Public Call 2018 Letter

These are only suggestions, if you have a better idea, please use it. For all prompts, I'd like the rating to be below Explicit. Feel free do use any other characters in addition to the ones I requested, if you want.

Bill Potts & River Song

Bill Potts & Susan Foreman

Post-The Doctor Falls, Bill and Heather are traveling through time and space, and they come across someone Bill recognizes from one of the pictures on the Doctor's desk back at the university.

- For River, I'll let you choose at what point in her timeline she is. I like to think that at some point after Thin Ice the Doctor told Bill about his wife, and about how their lives are intertwined, so it'd be interesting to see Bill trying not to screw up the space-time continuum by spoiling something about her future. I'm thinking they could meet in one of those instances where River borrowed the TARDIS, and maybe upon seeing her piloting it Bill thinks she is the Doctor. And what if River ropes Bill into one of her not-strictly-legal adventures? I know Bill says she likes women her age, and I know that Heather is there, but c'mon, this is River Song we're talking about.

- For Susan, I'm thinking about a post-The Dalek Invasion of Earth version of the character, a little bit older and a little bit wiser and busy trying to rebuild 22nd century Earth. Again, I think the Doctor told Bill about Susan at some point, or at least I'm sure Bill would have asked him about her. I know Susan's life on Earth has been explored in various stories, but since I haven't listened to/read them, it's up to you to decide what she's been up to since the Doctor left her. (By the way, does Bill know how that went down?)

If you want to write something pre-The Doctor Falls, there are plenty of ways to have the two characters meet, like the Doctor and Nardole going exploring while Bill stays behind and River borrowing the TARDIS while she's still on board, or Bill being misplaced in time and ending up in the 22nd century and meeting Susan.

Missy & River Song

Let’s say the Doctor (any Doctor, really) is in danger, and that the only people that can save them are their wife and their best friend/enemy. Could the universe take all the awesomeness of that team up without exploding? I suppose it’s safe to assume that River learned about the Master while at the Luna University (after all, both them and the Doctor were pretty active on Earth during the 70s– or was it the 80s?), but what would Missy think of River? Would she consider her more than a “puppy”? Or would she laugh at the whole wedding thing? Which one would propose the alliance, and what is the other’s first response? River doesn't mind killing bad guys, but Missy doesn't really discriminate on who finds themselves at the wrong end of her weapon of choice, and I suppose River might have something to say about that.

All the following are just suggestions. As long as you stay clear of my DNWs, feel free to write whatever you want.

CROSSOVER

Dorian Gray (The Picture of Dorian Gray)/Henry Jekyll (Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde)

Dorian hears rumors of a mysterious man who terrorizes the streets of London and, out of boredom, tracks him down, only to discover this villain is really the respectable Henry Jekyll. He’s immediately enthralled by him. As a doctor, Jekyll would certainly be interested in Dorian’s immortality, if he was ever to find out. And they’re both hiding the worst part of themselves — literally — so they already have something in common. They might become each other’s confidants and then friends and then lovers, or spend a night of passion together and never see each other again. Your choice. Canonically, they don't exactly get a happy ending, but what if, together, they did? Or what if, precisely because they are together, they are doomed to unhappiness? If you want to write an AU, go ahead, but please keep both characters’ “conditions” (Modern AU where Mr Hyde is a 4chan troll and Dorian is an Instagram celebrity whose “painting” is a selfie hidden in the depths of his Dropbox).

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Erik Killmonger/T'Challa

- AU where T’Challa doesn't let Erik die, but he doesn't imprison him either. Instead, he takes him under his wing and teaches him all there is to know about Wakanda. Of course, Erik is not happy at first, but after a while he starts giving T’Challa advice on how to run security and on what to do after Wakanda reveals itself to the world. They grow closer and closer, but don't realize it until Shuri point it out to them.

- High School AU where T’Challa transfers to an American school and is immediately basically forced to try out for the football team, whose captain is the very handsome Erik Killmonger (who he definitely doesn't have a crush on, shut up, Shuri!). There’s only one problem: T’Challa is a massive nerd who has no idea how to sport. Thankfully, Erik is just as much of a nerd (really, Erik? Anime?) and decides to help him.

ORIGINAL WORK

Alien/Alien of Warring Planet

Two alien empires have been at war for so long that hardly anyone remembers why. In the aftermath of a particularly bloody battle, two members of the opposite sides are gravely wounded. There’s an ambulance full of nanogenes that could cure them both not far away, but they only way to get to it is to do it together. Along the way, the two get to know each other, and maybe even discover they're not so different after all…. (Give the aliens as many tentacles/horns/appendages as you want, and make sure they use them.)

Superhero/Man That Looks Just Like Him

Here’s a few scenarios I’d like to read, mix and match them as you like:
- The superhero is a celebrity in his normal life, and needs his doppelganger to go to a charity gala posing as him while he fights crime or something. In exchange, he offers a favour. The favour turns out to be a date.
- Someone managed to snap a closeup photo of the superhero, and someone identifies him as the man. Everyone freaks out, and the man’s life turns into hell. The superhero shows up to say sorry/figure out what to do next. Feelings happen.
- Both of them are on their way to a costume party, the superhero dressed as a reporter (like Clark Kent, get it?) and the other man dressed as the superhero (because everyone keeps telling him he looks just like him). A villain kidnaps both of them and is really confused about what is going on.

(Whatever you choose to write, please have someone point out how narcissistic they both are for ending up together.)

VIKINGS

Athelstan/King Ecbert/Ragnar Lothbrok

We see that from the very beginning King Ecbert and Ragnar recognize each other as the great, powerful men they are. And we know they both look at Athelstan as this holy thing that sees and hear things can never hope to even begin to comprehend, and that they love him for it. Athelstan, in return, found a home (and even a friend) in both of them, discovering himself in the process. I could easily see a relationship where King Ecbert and Ragnar playfully compete for Athelstan’s affection, but let's not forget the pool scene between those first two (oh, boy!). I would love to see Athelstan taking control of the situation, both in and out of bed, maybe by having King Ecbert and Ragnar “perform” for him as he watches or something like that. If you don't feel like writing something set in the canon universe, I would love any kind of AU, especially a modern one.

This song makes me think of 19th century France, gay factory workers, and how capitalism is a Bad Thing. I’m enthralled by the idea of destroying all the dying man’s belonging so that no one else will be able to have them after he dies. It’s such a rageful thing to do. Such a useless vendetta. And there’s something about the singer asking what melody will reunite him with his lover that always gets me.

In a city by a river, a soothsayer and a merperson fall in love. They try to resist their attraction for each other, but the soothsayer can see that all the signs point to the two of them being together. The merperson still isn't ready to give in to destiny, though.

Taken literally, this is the sad story of someone who tries to escape reality through drugs, but ends up losing his own freedom and youth in the process. I love the bit where the singer begs his lover to save him instead of joining him. Of course, there’s the question of what this drug is. Is it literally a drug? Or perhaps is the unhealthy love the two have for each other that cause them both to lose contact with reality? (I used the pronouns he/him, but feel free to write whatever kind of relationship you want.)

(Action/Adventure, Canon-Style Plot - Freeform, Humor, Interpersonal Drama)

Group: Amy Pond & River Song

What I want to see is Amy and River trying to make sense of their relationship. What happened after A Good Man Goes to War, after River took her parents back home? What questions did Amy (and Rory, if you want to include him) have for River? And how does their relationship change after Amy finds out that River is also Mels? We saw a bit of that at the end of The Wedding of River Song, and I’d love to see more. And we can assume River saw her parents at least once after they were taken by the Weeping Angels, so what did that conversation look like? Give me Amy and River being best friends, and give me them being mother and daughter. Make it mundane, have alien in it — that’s your choice.

Group: James "Bucky" Barnes & Shuri

Shuri takes it upon herself to help Bucky recover after he comes out of cryo, and maybe to design him a new arm. He starts thinking of her as a sort of younger sister, but she keeps treating him like the little brother she never had. They have a lot in common, though: they’re both science nerds, they’ve both lost something very important to them (for Shuri, her dad; for Bucky, himself), and, as it turns out, they both really, really like memes, especially outdated ones. And so they become friends. And so, they heal. (Feel free to include any other character, but I only ship Bucky with Steve, and please remember that Shuri is 16.)

Group: Superhero/Man Who Looks Just Like Him Who Is A Reporter

Here’s a few scenarios I’d like to read, mix and match them as you like:

- The superhero is some kind of Bruce Wayne-level celebrity in his normal life, and needs the reported to go to a charity gala as him while he goes fight crime or something. In exchange, he offers a favour. The favour turns out to be a date.

- The superhero is a normal person in his daily life, and the media are always trying to find out is true identity. Someone manages to get a closeup photo of the superhero and everyone freaks out because he looks just like the reporter. The reporter’s life turns into hell, and the superhero shows up to say sorry/figure out what to do next. Feelings happen.

- A villain kidnaps one thinking he’s the other (or kidnaps then both because he has no idea who’s who) and is eternally confused by what is happening. BONUS if the reporter is cosplaying as the superhero and/or the superhero is dressed as a reporter (either because he actually is a reporter or because he was cosplaying as Clark Kent).

TEEN WOLF

(Canon-Style Plot - Freeform, Character Development, Established Relationship, Fluff, Getting Together, Humor, Interpersonal Drama, Smut)

Group: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski

Stiles gets turned into something (a merman/animal/creature of your choice) and Derek doesn't know whether he should kill the witch/warlock/villain of the week who transformed him or thank them for the laughs. Because of reasons (Stiles’ dad doesn't know about the whole supernatural thing or whatever) Stiles has to stay in the loft with Derek while they solve the situation. Except:

- they both have a crush on the other and have to spend the whole time hiding it;

- they are already secretly dating and have to keep it from the rest of the pack;

- they were secretly together for a while but eventually broke up, and now have to manage to live together without killing each other or dying of awkwardness.

In the end, of course, love prevails.

(If you want to write smut, I have a preference towards bottom!Derek and top!Stiles, but if you feel your story would be better with the roles reversed, I’m okay with that.)

“But how would either Bill or Clara even get into Infinity?” you might be asking. Well, it’s Doctor Who: it doesn’t necessarily have to make sense. They just do, make something up. And maybe some Daleks/Cybermen/whatever do too, and stuff happens, or maybe not and it’s all very please to and nice. Whether you choose Clara or Bill you choose, feel free to include other characters (the Eleventh or Twelfth Doctor or Ashildr for Clara; the Twelfth Doctor & Nardole or Heather for Bill) or to write both of them at once. Of course, the crew must be from after the end of the episode. I really just want to read what happens when a blue box/American diner/girl made of water appears in the middle of the flight deck of the USS Callister.

I can't think of two Doctors whose reaction to Dirk would be so different from each other’s. Eleven would definitely love the whole "everything is connected" thing; Twelve... not so much. But maybe that's not what you think — in that case, surprise me. Feel free to include any other characters, including different incarnations of the Doctor. As for prompts, I don't have anything specific in mind. Just choose a Doctor, put Dirk inside the TARDIS or in front of a Dalek, and let’s see what happens.

Missy & River Song

I seriously think that if these two ever met the universe would explode. What would they even say to each other? Would they like each other? I guess River would be interested in Missy, having probably studied her, at some point. But what about Missy? Would she consider River an equal? Would she be nice to her, considering who she is to the Doctor? We know that River is on the good(ish) side, and Missy definitely isn't (not until series 10), so what would their relationship even be? What if something happens and they need to join forces? Or what if they have tea every Thursday and spend the whole time making fun of the Doctor?

Thirteenth Doctor & Clara Oswin Oswald

I would love anything with these two, but my general idea would be for 13 to find Clara's diner and go in there ordering a milkshake or whatever without saying who she is, just to see Clara one last time. Maybe she asks Clara how she ended up with this job, and Clara tells her of this old Scottish man who was her friend once upon a time. It's your choice if the Doctor reveals herself or not, and I've requested both romantic and platonic ship, so you can decide which way to go. You can include Ashildr, if you want (or any other character, really). The rating shouldn't be higher than T.

Twelfth Doctor & Missy

The Doctor and the Master have been friends since the old days of the Academy, so they must have had something in common. If they hadn't parted ways, all those years ago, and grown apart and become the people we know and love(/hate), what would've been of them? Maybe, if the Doctor had escaped Gallifrey not with Susan, but with his best friend, they would've spent eternity as wanderers in the fourth dimension, studying oppressed planets together. The Doctor could still have his adventures freeing them, as Missy could have built new governments there and ruled them with a bit of hypnotism to smooth things over. Show me this, or maybe, show me Missy slowly coming to terms with what she's done, with how evil she's been, guided by the Doctor, just like he himself was guided by Ian and Barbara and Rose and Clara and all the others. Show me the Twelfth Doctor and Missy being friends, or at the very least remembering that they were, at some point. The tag is platonic, and that’s what I want the relationship to be, but if you want to imply/hint at/suggest romance in their past, or want to include some flirting feel free to.

Enthusiastic Werewolf/Exasperated Vampire

I’m picturing Actual Ball of Sunshine Werewolf and Why Won't Some Hunter Stake Me Already Vampire being forced to share a house/cave/nest/lair. Or, let's be honest, I’m picturing said Werewolf deciding they’re going to live with the Vampire, and the Vampire just sighing and begrudgingly accepting them. Ridiculousness ensues, love triumphs in the end. But maybe you have a better idea. In that case, use it. I’m okay with any rating, but I’d rather you wrote smut only with an m/m couple.

Male Vampire/Male Human/Male Werewolf

I’m not going to lie, the first reason I requested this is because I was smut. If you also want to write smut, just keep in mind my DNWs and have fun. I’m good with blood and various teeth and claws being used in… unusual ways (?). But if you're not comfortable with explicit stuff and want to write something different,you’re more than welcome to! Give me Human and Werewolf taking naps during the day so they can stay with Vampire when night comes, or Vampire and Human helping Werewolf during the full moon, or Werewolf and Vampire both fretting over how fragile Human is, or whatever floats your boat!

Male Vigilante/Rescued Male Crime Victim

There are so many ways you could go with this one: What if the victim was not really a victim, but an undercover agent trying to arrest someone and the vigilante just ruined everything? What if he was a journalist, baiting the vigilante to get an interview? What if he was a nurse, and the vigilante just got hurt saving him? What if they actually knew each other? Do they end up having sex in a dark alley because the victim is shocked and oh god the vigilante is kinda cute dressed like that?

Man/Invisible Demon that Fucks Him in Public

I'm picturing the man is at some sort of office meeting, important dinner or whatever, and his Demon boyfriend is teasing him because he knows he (not so) secretly loves it.

Weird meet cute? People always mixing the two of them up (“Maybe you should start wearing a mask,” says the reporter)? Really hot smut? (How much of a narcissist do you have to be to want to fuck someone who looks just like you?) All of the above??
